Welcome!

Custom Office Suite

To My Clients: I am in the process of relocating my business to New Hampshire. I am sorry to be leaving the Boston area, but the cost of running a shop there has become prohibitive, and will only continue to increase. So my wife Linda and I have bought an 1834 farmhouse and barn in the town of Ashland. The buildings are currently gutted and in need of full renovation, so I will be on something of a sabbatical from a year-and-a-half to two years to do much of the work. The barn will eventually be my cabinet shop.

In the meantime, I invite you to share our renovation journey through my new blog. Linda and I will not only detail the progress of restoring the house and barn; as things move along, I will also provide tips, and write about the different techniques I use and develop.

I am in also the process of migrating my website to WordPress, which means that the sections in Galleries are a work in progress. In the meantime, though, please enjoy the new blog, “On Thompson Farm“. I hope you’ll subscribe to it and follow our progress on renovating our house.    — Devon

“According to designers and builders of custom shelving and storage units, [a] project works because [the client] started with the most important requirement: an honest assessment of [his or her] unique needs.

‘Figure out exactly what it is you need to store,’ says Antonio Devon Thibeault, a Medford-based builder who does business as the Underground Carpenter. He says it is ‘not what you want to store it in but what you need to store’ that is key to getting the best results.

A good carpenter, designer, or contractor, Thibeault says, can suggest options—closed cabinets or open shelving, small or narrow spaces for tiny objects, or variable shelves for a growing collection—but only you know what you have and what you need to put away.”
