Family Room Remodel

This was one of my earliest projects.

This client had two rooms he wanted to merge, and convert into a larger family room. First, I removed the existing wall separating the two rooms. He loved the existing tongue-and-groove paneling in what had been a study, and wanted to use it in the new room. To create a unified look, I reproduced the original paneling, and installed it to continue around the new, enlarged room.

You’ll notice that I also carefully aligned the beaded detail on the slant-front secretaries, desk surface, drawers, and doors with the beading of the wall paneling.

(For more on the slant-front secretaries shown at the far end of the room, see the Custom Cabinetry section)
